Founded in 1976, House of Ruth empowers women, children, and families to rebuild their lives and heal from trauma, abuse, and homelessness. House of Ruth offers comprehensive support for women, children, and families. Our continuum of services encompasses enriched housing for families and single women, trauma-informed daycare for children, and free counseling to empower anyone, regardless of gender, who is a survivor of trauma and abuse. Our programs provide individualized support to rebuild safe, independent, and sustainable lives.

My Sister’s Place (MSP) shelters, supports, and empowers survivors of domestic violence and their children, while providing leadership and education to build a supportive community. MSP provides domestic violence shelter for women and children (up to 12 months). They offer counseling, support groups, workshops, and information on other organizations that will provide legal advice, child care, job training, and other services to domestic violence victims.

DAWN is the only organization in the DC area that provides direct services to Deaf, Hard of Hearing, and Deaf-Blind survivors of domestic violence, sexual violence, and stalking.
